The goal of academic coaching is to assist students in developing the skills needed to perform as confident learners. Being a college student can be a challenging role, and many students may experience academic difficulties of some kind during their college years. Academic coaching provides students with the opportunity to meet individually with an advisor to discuss their academic difficulties and learn strategies to help them become better students. The academic coaching service does not replace the students’ assigned academic advisor; however, it is a complement service to provide additional support. In a session, issues that may be discussed include organizational skills, poor grades, test anxiety, study skills, and others.
