Student Insurance
All Traditional Day students taking 12 hours or more are required to have health insurance. This can be your own private insurance or the college's health insurance policy.
If you choose to use your own health insurance, it must have as a provider Eastern North Carolina Medical Group (Dr. Dan Crocker).
You must submit a waiver form with a front and back copy of your insurance card to the Health Center by August 1 for the Fall semester and January 3 for the Spring semester. Waiver forms AND a copy of your insurance card must be submitted on an annual basis.
Only the following insurance companies are accepted:
- NCWC student plan
- NC Medicaid [Carolina access not accepted]
- Medicare
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- First Health
- Medcost
- United Healthcare
- Tricare
- Aetna
- Cigna
- Wellpath
Any of the above insurance companies with Beech Street on the insurance card will not be accepted.
NO HMO Plans are accepted.
One of the great benefits of attending NCWC is that we provide accident coverage at no cost to all full-time day students. The college also offers sickness insurance for a one-time rate. This insurance coverage includes:
- Primary insurance which pays 85% usual and customary fees [U&C] up to $2500 then 80% U&C to $10,000 for sickness, and 85% U&C up to $5000 then 80% up to $10,000 for accident
- It is good anywhere in the USA, even when you are not in school
- There is no co-pay due at time of visit or a deductible to be met.
- It is available for a very low yearly cost to the student.
However, you will be placed on the college's insurance unless you fill out a waiver form completely and attach a front and back copy of your insurance card to the waiver and return them to the Health Center by the appropriate deadline. All returning students will receive the annual waiver form and brochure in the mail during the summer.
