Site Information and History

This web site is is served by Microsoft Internet Information Server on Windows 2003 Server, running on a twin-Pentium III 1400 MHz system.  It is maintained by the Webmaster in the IS dept.   We attempt to be compatible with Netscape 6.01+, Internet Explorer 6.0+ and Firefox 1.0+ (Windows OS), and Internet Explorer 5.1+ and Netscape 7.0+ (Macintosh OS).

First NCWC Home PageNCWC's first web site was delivered in October of 1995 by DCANet, using Apache under BSD Unix on a DEC Pentium 120. The same machine also provided email service for the campus.

Major content additions and a facelift to the main page were made during 1996 by Charles Creegan, then a faculty member, with the help of system administrator Pat Boyd.

1996 facelift of NCWC home pageIn 1997 web maintenance chores were assumed by Tom O'Connor. Some pages were migrated to Windows NT/IIS running on a variety of equipment.

In summer of 1998 Charles Creegan took the full-time position of Webmaster. In late 1998 preparations began for the move to the NT system; this move was hastened by a total failure of the Unix system on April 3, 1999.

1999 facelift of NCWC home pageThe web site in 1999 was powered by Microsoft Internet Information Server on Windows NT Server 4.0, running on a twin-Pentium 400 system. Charles Creegan developed this home page. This new web site featured JavaScript, scrolling menus and a rotating photo on the home page.

2003 facelift of NCWC home pageIn summer of 2000, Charles Creegan resigned and Steve Lawrence assumed Webmaster duties. Steve refurbished the campus web site using templates developed by Garrison Cole Group (formerly known as Fuel Design Group). This web site design includes cascading style sheets for easy navigation and a seamless appearance.
