How did NCWC prepare you for your grad school/professional life? “Having transferred from a large public university, I feel I have a unique perspective on the benefits that a small school has to offer. The personal attention I received from the faculty and staff at Wesleyan rivals anything I believe a larger school could have offered me. The teachers at Wesleyan focused on helping me learn how to think rather than asking me to regurgitate memorized data.”
Most impactful professor/coach? “Dr. Bill Yankosky, the director of the honors program, was definitely my most influential professor. He takes a vested interested in each of his students, acting more like a mentor to his students rather than a distant teacher. Being able to consult him about my school and non-school related issues kept me mentally sane on more than one occasion during my college experience.”
Most impactful experience at NCWC? “My best experience at NCWC was definitely my participation in the MLK day of service the college organizes every year. The college does a great job encouraging students (especially student organizations) to participate. One year, I helped repaint the Red Cross building and another year I delivered meals to elderly people in our community who couldn’t make it to the store. It’s a great way that NCWC interacts with the community, and I’d definitely encourage anyone who can participate to do so.”
