Earlier in the summer, North Carolina Wesleyan’s Department of Athletics proudly announced the reinstatement of women’s cross country for the coming school year. Athletic director John Thompson volunteered information following up on the press release from June 1st.
“The search for a head coach is still underway, but we hope to make an announcement in the near future,” he said.
Several female students have previously expressed interest in cross country, and the athletic department plans to pull from this group to jumpstart the team roster.
“There will be an open interest meeting once we have a coach in place and students return to campus,” said Thompson. “Any female student who’s interested will be welcome to attend.”
Student athletes will practice on a cross country course that already exists on campus. Several meet dates have been identified and a schedule will be released upon the announcement of the new head coach.
