Rocky Mount, N.C.— In response to a growing number of requests, NC Wesleyan College is expanding its business curriculum offerings to include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. The college has offered a minor in this area, along with 22 majors and 17 other minors in a wide variety of subject areas. The minor in marketing will remain, but students will now have the option of earning a full bachelor’s degree.
In addition to the standard core courses required for a college degree, as students progress through the four-year plan for the marketing major, they will take courses in accounting, communications, consumer behavior, economics, internet marketing, retailing, statistics and other related subjects. Some of these courses will be offered online.
“Marketing is a cornerstone in many business programs and will provide students with the foundation they need to be successful in the many fields that marketing offers,” said Dr. Evan Duff, NCWC Interim Provost. “We are pleased to expand our business division in this subject area with the added convenience of some online offerings.”
NCWC is promoting the marketing major for immediate enrollment. Many of the business courses for the marketing degree are already in rotation. Therefore, students accepted for admission and registering for the spring semester will be able to start the course work in January.
“As soon as the addition of this major was approved, we began to share the information with students who are inquiring about NCWC,” said Bill Allen, Vice President for Enrollment at the college. “There was a great deal of interest in this degree among the potential students who attended our most recent open house. Based on their reaction, we expect the classes to fill quickly.”
