Governor Perdue Names NC Wesleyan Internships Director to NC Internship Council

Rocky Mount, N.C.—N.C. Gov. Beverly Perdue has appointed Jessie H. Warren, director of internships and career services at North Carolina Wesleyan College, to the North Carolina Internship Council.

The Council works to create internships statewide that will help bridge the gap between classroom learning and the intended careers of students who attend colleges, universities, and community and technical colleges. The Council’s educational internships serve state government agencies while providing students with high quality projects that give them real-world experience.

At Wesleyan, Warren directs the Internship and Career Services Center, which assists students with career planning and the development of job-search skills so they may reach career goals. She also works with local employers to create student internships in the greater Rocky Mount area.

Warren has been at Wesleyan since 2006. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her master’s degree in higher education administration at Old Dominion University.

She is immediate past president of the Young Professionals Network of Rocky Mount and a member of the national and N.C. Association of Colleges and Employers, the N.C. Career Development Association and the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rocky Mount.

Employers who would like to discuss internships for Wesleyan students may contact Jessie Warren at jwarren@ncwc.edu.
