December ’08 Graduate Receives Statewide Team Award
Rocky Mount, N.C.—Noah Parsons, a December 2008 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College, recently was honored as the recipient of North Carolina’s 2009 Earth Team Award. The award was presented at a banquet in Raleigh by the North Carolina Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts/Natural Resources Conservation Service, a part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Only one Earth Team Award per state is presented annually to outstanding volunteers throughout the United States.
Parsons earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental science. Last summer he worked with the Nash Soil and Water Conservation District on matters of conservation compliance. Also he worked on wetland restoration in North Carolina’s Hyde and Washington counties to help reestablish wildlife habitats ravaged last year by wildfires that destroyed thousands of acres.
Parsons also played varsity football at Wesleyan each year throughout his four-year academic career, and was the recipient of several prestigious academic scholarships. The Asheboro native is employed at Hospira in Rocky Mount.
