Service Awards Ceremony Honors Staff, Faculty

North Carolina Wesleyan College recently recognized the employment longevity of 21 faculty and staff at a ceremony at the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts. Altogether, the employees have provided a total of 330 years of service to Wesleyan.

Two staff members were recognized for 40 years of employment—William O. Barrett, who serves in the Maintenance Department, and Dianne H. Taylor, in Pearsall Library.

The Distinguished Staff Award was shared by Emily Perry, academic affairs secretary, and Laura Estes, assistant director of Wesleyan’s Adult Degree Program in Goldsboro.

Also, Roger G. Taylor, a 1970 Wesleyan alumnus, trustee, and head of Roger G. Taylor & Associates—AXA Advisors in Rocky Mount, was recognized as the recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, the college’s most prestigious award, which was formally presented to Taylor in October during Wesleyan’s homecoming.

Employees recognized for 30 years of service were Rachel T. Dix, Dorothy D. Grant and C. Cliff Sullivan; 25 years, Dr. Steve Ferebee; 20 years, John R. Brackett, Dr. Patricia Matisz Smith, Katherine R. Winslow; 15 years, Darrell S. Whitley; 10 years, Gloria R. King; 5 years, Dr. William J. Grattan III, Carlton R. Lewis, Karen L. Moss, James L. Parrigin, Dr. Fred W. Sanborn, Dr. Jonathan D. Sarris, Barbara A. Sears, Gary L. Sherman, K. Keith Smith, Frankie D. Taal.
