Art Professor Adelman To Receive Art Education Award
Rocky Mount, N.C.— The North Carolina Art Education Association has announced that North Carolina Wesleyan College Art Professor Everett M. Adelman will receive its Friends of the Arts Award for the 2008-2009 academic year. The award will be presented November 7 in Asheville, N.C., during the association’s Professional Development Conference.
Professor Adelman came to Wesleyan in 1992. He teaches a wide variety of art courses, including drawing, painting, watercolor, design, visual communication, computer graphics, and art appreciation. In addition to teaching, he serves as curator of Wesleyan’s Mims Gallery, Four Sisters Gallery, Civic Gallery, and the College’s Lynch Collection of Outsider Art. He coordinates art exhibitions and displays for Wesleyan’s art galleries and arranges public receptions for many of the visiting artists so that the general community may meet those whose works are on display.
An accomplished artist himself, Professor Adelman has exhibited many of his own works widely. Locally, his statues of the Biblical Three Wise men and the pediment icon Christ Pantocrator have become a traditional annual display at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
