Dr. Perry-Sheldon joined Wesleyan in 1985 and directs the teacher education program. She teaches a variety of courses in the elementary program including a children’s literature course (EDU 210) and social studies methods class (HIS 344). She teaches the foundations of education course (EDU 400) and the content reading course (EDU 316). These courses reflect her interest in children’s literature, reading, diversity, and the social studies. A past president of the North Carolina Reading Association, she is currently the secretary of NCRA. She is the vice president of the NC Association of Colleges of Teacher Education. She enjoys reading, attending the theater, and travel in her leisure time.
