The Mims Gallery
Welcome to the Mims and Civic Galleries at North Carolina Wesleyan College’s Dunn Center for Performing Arts. We have been bringing quality entertainment, music and art variety to the eastern Carolina and Rocky Mount community for fifteen years and we appreciate your support and patronage. Every season the Mims Gallery exhibits local professionals and artists of international acclaim; we try to engage, challenge, and add interest and pleasure to our viewers’ experience at the Dunn Center. This season we have eight exhibits with a wide variety of art styles, from traditional realism to abstract expressionism. From oil on canvas, mixed media, pastel and photography, there should be something for everyone. The Civic Gallery will host a special Graduation Day exhibition for Daylon Jones opening April 13, 2012.
Please note the reception party dates; these events are always free to the public and are conveniently timed on Friday evenings to make an easy before or after dinner gallery visit possible. It is a great opportunity to see something new in town and meet old friends and make some new ones. The featured artists will make an informal gallery talk at 8 p.m.
When someone purchases art at a nearby venue like the Mims Gallery, they are purchasing quality professional art. Our artists are selected and come to us with established careers and reputations; some of our artists have local roots but have artworks in national collections. Some come from miles away but will win friends and admirers locally and are often invited back by popular acclaim. You will find website links for our artists.
