Tar River Swing Band-LIVE!

Nothing celebrates the excitement and energy of live music more than the hard swinging Tar River Swing Band.  Featuring some of North Carolina’s greatest jazz improvisors, the soul of the band literally lives in the moment providing the foundation for instantaneous compostions.  Each year the band selects a balance of standards and contemporary charts that showcase individuals and the precise groove that can only be created through 20 musicians in complete sync.  Songs you know from Basie, Elington, and Dorsey combined with songs you may not know from the likes of Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band-if you have a jazz student in the house ask them, they will know the fat sounds of the Big Phat Band.  Also look for the Swing Band’s anouncement of their annual Christmas Concert that puts a whole new vibe on the merry holidays each year.
