How to Make a Gift of Stock
Thank you for considering a gift of stock. Stock gifts can have significant tax advantages. The following is general information regarding gifts of stock to North Carolina Wesleyan College.
As you consider a gift of stock, please remember to let us know when and how we can expect to receive your donation. Standard stock transfer procedures at most brokerages do not include information about the sender of the stock, so it can be difficult for the College to track who made the gift.
There are two ways to make a gift of stock:
- Stock certificates can be mailed directly to North Carolina Wesleyan College. Contact Wesleyan for a copy of the forms needed to make a paper transfer.
- A broker can transfer stock directly into North Carolina Wesleyan’s account. Following is the contact and account information needed for transferring stock directly to Wesleyan:
- W. Gaither Weeks, First Vice President, Investment Officer
Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC
Phone: (252) 977-6893
- DTC#: 0141
Barden Winstead, Jr.
Phone: (252) 443-2724
- DTC#: 0793
Wesleyan will average the high and low prices of the stock on the date that Wesleyan receives the stock. The gift will be valued at the average price in accordance with federal tax laws.
