Course Formats
8-Week Class
8-Week classes are an accelerated degree completion program. Classes are offered in a facilitated learning environment. The format is based on the facilitation of knowledge involving students in participatory activities, group discussions, written exercises, projects, and presentations. Students must expect an average of 15-20 hours of out-of-class work each week (per three semester hour course). Extensive pre-class readings and/or assignments are required.
12-Week Class (Triangle Campus Only)
In the 12-week format, each three semester hour class meets three hours one night or Saturday each week for 12 meetings. For each hour spent in class, students should expect to spend 2-3 hours outside of class reading, completing assignments, etc. Degrees offered in this format are the BS in Accounting, BS in Business Administration, BS in Computer Information Systems, and BA in Criminal Justice.
Weekend Class (Triangle Campus Only)
Weekend courses meet three separate weekends on Fridays 6-10 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Courses offered in this format have the same contact hours as those offered in the 12-week format. Due to the compressed nature of the class meetings, students should expect to have readings and/or assignments prior to the first class.
Online Class
Online courses are governed by the same policies that apply to Adult Degree Program 8-week courses. For more information, click here.
