ATTENTION ADP STUDENTS: 

Adult Degree Students are only eligible for NCLTG, Federal Pell Grant, and Stafford Loans.

Grants and Scholarships

Pell Grant - Federal need-based grant determined by the results of the FAFSA. (ADP eligible)

Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grants - are for students showing exceptional financial need. Students receiving Federal Pell Grants are given priority. Awards vary from $200 to a maximum of $4,000 per year, depending upon funds available and the need of students.

North Carolina State Contractual Grant - is available to legal North Carolina residents who demonstrate financial need. The amount of aid is determined by the degree of need and the availability of funds.

North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant - is available to any full-time student who is a legal resident of North Carolina. In order to receive grants from North Carolina, you must submit the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant application to the Financial Aid office. The award amount is established annually by the General Assembly. A separate application is required. (ADP eligible)

North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship - is available to needy North Carolina students attending eligible colleges and universities in North Carolina. It is offered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority and awarded through College Foundation, Inc.

North Carolina Student Incentive Grant - provides $700 a year from the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.

NCWC Scholarships and Grants - College funded scholarships and grants based on GPA, SAT scores and financial need.

Federal Work Study

Work Study - A federal work program to assist students with payment of educational costs. Eligibility based on the results of the FAFSA. Note: Students are paid directly for work study hours earned and funds cannot be subtracted from the student account balance.

Loans

Federal Perkins Loan - low-interest student loan awarded on the basis of need.

Federal Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) - Student loan for students. Interest for Subsidized Stafford Loans is 5.4% for the 2009-2010 academic year and 6.8% for Unsubsidized Stafford Loans. Repayment begins 6 months after graduation or ceasing half-time enrollment. Separate application(s)/processes are required. (ADP eligible)

PLUS Loan - A federal loan for parents of undergraduate students. The interest rate for 2009-2010 is 8.5% fixed. Separate applications and a credit check are required.

Alternative Loan - Student loans available and should be used as a last resort. Interest rates and repayment benefits will vary depending on the loan chosen.

Veterans Administration Benefits

Students may use Veterans Administration Benefits. You should contact your local VA office at 1-800-827-1000 or www.va.gov to get information about eligibility requirements and procedures. The campus contact in regard to Veterans Administration issues, except Goldsboro students, is the Registrar’s Office at (252) 985-5123. Goldsboro students should contact the Director, Thetis Hoch, at (919) 736-2312.
