Frequently Asked Questions

1.Where do I begin the process of applying for financial aid?

The process of applying for financial aid begins with completing the FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid). www.FAFSA.ed.gov

2. What is the Title IV school code for North Carolina Wesleyan College?

The Title IV school code is 002951.

3. How is my financial aid eligibility determined?

The information you and your parents report on the FAFSA is used to calculate your EFC (estimated Family Contribution). The EFC is used to determine your eligibility of federal student aid in addition to the cost of the school.

Cost of Attendance
- Expected Family Contribution
= Financial Need

4.When can I expect to get a response from the Financial Aid Office?

Freshman and Transfer students who have been admitted into the college and who completed the FAFSA by March 15 should expect to receive a financial aid award in 10 working days.

Returning students who meet the March 15 deadline should expect to receive a financial aid award within the next couple of weeks.

5. Do I have to apply for financial aid each academic year?

Yes. After the first year for which you submitted the FAFSA, you will be sent a Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You should receive the renewal application December 31. Review the information of the renewal for accuracy, making any necessary changes, and mail the application to the pre-addressed envelope included in the application. If you do not receive a Renewal FAFSA, you should complete a new application available at the Financial Aid Office or online after Jan. 1
