Applying For Financial Aid
If you are planning to use financial aid as a means of paying your tuition you need to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can apply through the Internet, using FAFSA on the web, or you can complete a paper application. North Carolina Wesleyan College recommends that you use the FAFSA on the web located at www.FAFSA.ed.gov.
For those students who wish to complete a paper FAFSA, you can get one from your high school, the Financial Aid Office, or the Federal Student Aid Information Center. Complete the application and mail it in to the pre-addressed envelope included in your application.
Helpful Tips
Enter the federal school code of those schools that you would like to receive your information. North Carolina Wesleyan College Title IV school code is 002951.
Students who want to complete their FAFSA on line should request a PIN. Having a PIN allows you to sign your application electronically. You should get the PIN before completing the FAFSA on line so that you can electronically sign your application at the time you submit it.
Pay special attention to the question regarding income. You will need to refer to your tax return in order to make it easier to answer the questions when you apply.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for your FAFSA to be processed. You and your school will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) if you applied using the paper application or a SAR Information Acknowledgement if you applied electronically. Please allow 2-3 weeks if filing electronically.
You should save all documentation and all other materials used in completing the application because you might need them later to prove that the information you reported is correct. The process for providing this information is called verification. The Financial Aid Office will contact you if verification is required.
