Malcolm W. Woodall Biographical Information

The Development Division is responsible for College activity that connects the campus to various external constituents, i.e. Alumni, Community, and Friends of the College. Our work consists of Fundraising, Alumni Affairs, Community/Public Relations, and Communications. It is our mission to build an environment or culture of philanthropy that supports the College’s mission to effectively educate our students. On behalf of these students we "make friends" and "raise funds" in support of their education.

Fundraising focuses on three main areas: 1) Annual Fund, in support of the College’s operating budget; 2) Capital Needs and Special Projects, for building construction and renovation and/or programs outside normal operations; and 3) Endowment, creating ongoing income (often for scholarships) for the work of the College.

Our friend making efforts primarily occur through the Office of Alumni Affairs and the Office of Public Relations. Alumni Affairs plans a number of opportunities for alumni of the College to maintain and expand relationships with others who have attended Wesleyan. Public Relations works to effectively communicate various campus activities to alums and friends alike.

As a private college, Wesleyan and its students are dependent on the generosity of others for its well-being. Like most undergraduate Liberal Arts institutions, Wesleyan’s tuition does not fully cover the cost of a student’s education. To help close the gap between tuition and institutional expenses, many from the Rocky Mount community and beyond – alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations – regularly invest their time and their financial resources in our students' academic preparation. We are grateful for this support.

North Carolina Wesleyan College is a college on the move. To fully realize its potential we will need more friends and funds than ever before. To become a part of the College’s culture of philanthropy I invite you to contact me using the information below.
