Mrs. Brake is assistant professor and serves as Instruction & Assessment Librarian and Quality Enhancement Plan Director. Special interests include information literacy instruction and distance education. Mrs. Brake joined the NCWC faculty in January, 2011. She is the Vice-chair, Chair-Elect of the North Carolina Library Association College and University Section for 2013-2015.
Brake attended the Association of College and Research Libraries Immersion 2012 Program on Information Literacy at Champlain College July 22-27, 2012. Amy was one of 28 librarians in the Program Track which was designed to provide instruction librarians with the opportunity to work intensively on all aspects of information literacy. Focus for the week were the curricular areas of information, teaching/pedagogy, assessment and learning theory. Amy received The Leslie H. and Evelyn G. Garner Faculty Leadership Award in 2011 to attend this nationally competitive program.
Mrs. Brake served as Finance Officer, Clerk to the Board of Trustees and Special Projects Librarian at Braswell Memorial Public Library for seventeen years. She came to Wesleyan from Miller Motte College in Greenville, where she served as Head Librarian for two years. A lover of all things library, Mrs. Brake worked at Joyner Library at East Carolina University during her undergraduate years and attributes her passion for libraries to those early experiences working as a student assistant.
