George Whitwell, Ph.D., is a chemist with over 23 years industrial experience in research and R&D management with strong emphasis on establishing cost-effective, strategic processes in a collaborative environment; made transition to teaching career at NC Wesleyan College in 2006. He is highly effective at leading technical teams including well-established, senior staff. Dr. Whitwell has a keen interest in fitting infrastructure and resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Management background includes both technical staff and operational services with project management in both areas.
Technical background includes materials synthesis, computational chemistry and catalysis.
Dr. Whitwell's teaching background includes 5 years as company trainer in leadership skills and business principles, 1 year teaching high school chemistry, and 6 semesters as graduate laboratory teaching assistant. Dr. Whitwell is a tenured Associate Professor teaching General Chemistry and General Physics for science majors and Analytical/ Physical/Inorganic Chemistry for Chemistry majors and all associated laboratory courses.
