Dr. Quinan was born and raised near Albany, New York. He joined the Wesleyan faculty in 1986 after completing his Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Georgia. He is interested in many areas of Psychology, especially cognitive, developmental, and physiological psychology. He teaches Information Processing, Conditioning and Learning, Physiological Psychology, Research Design and Analysis I, Senior Seminar, Drugs and Behavior, Introduction to Psychology and courses in Developmental Psychology. He received the Exemplary Teaching Award in 1993 and was the 1999-2000 Jefferson Pilot Professor.
Dr. Quinan serves as Chair of the Education and Social Sciences Division and is the Psychology Program Coordinator. He is an advisor for the North Carolina Wesleyan College Chapters of two honor societies: Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, and Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society in Social Science.
Dr. Quinan’s hobbies include playing the piano, organ, string bass, and performing with the Wesleyan Singers and church choirs.
