Molly A. Wyatt

Dr. Wyatt is an Associate Professor of Sociology and has served as NC Wesleyan’s Associate Provost for Academic Affairs since 2012. In 2013, Dr. Wyatt was selected for and completed the BRIDGES program in for women in Academic Leadership at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Her administrative duties include working with several programs on NC Wesleyan's campus including the Scholars Latino Initiative, The WesOne Society (NCWC's first generation college student initiative), academic advising, academic program development, study abroad programs, and accreditation and assessment activities within Academic Affairs.

Dr. Wyatt has a diverse educational background with a B.S. in Public Relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, an M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from North Texas, and earned her Ph.D. in Sociology at Texas Woman's University. Her dissertation research entitled, “Presidential Vote Choice in 1984 and 2004: The `Relative Effects of Voting Cleavages on the Re-Elections of Republican Incumbent Presidents," truly embodies her academic interests in demography, culture, and voting behavior. The sociology of nutrition, health, and wellness also interest her. Dr. Wyatt teaches courses in Social Problems, Research Methods, Work and Occupations, Popular Culture, and an upcoming course in the Sociology of Food. She also serves as the program coordinator for the Organizational Administration major.

A native of upstate New York, Dr. Wyatt loves music, animals, and sports. She and her husband have two dogs and three cats. One of their cats was a stray rescue from the college campus found underneath the bleachers at the tennis center. The kitten is still affectionately known as the "tennis kitten." She played the baritone horn in the Syracuse University marching/pep bands and wind symphony. Dr. Wyatt is also a lifetime member of Tau Beta Sigma, a National Honorary Band Service Sorority. Dr. Wyatt is an avid sports fan and roots for the Syracuse University Orange basketball team and loves professional football.
