Mrs. Wilson joined the faculty at North Carolina Wesleyan College in 1990 after a 15-year career with a multinational company. During her time at the college she has taught 25 different courses. She has served on almost every committee at the college, was Chair of the Division of Business, Director of the First-Year Program, and twice was elected Chair of the Faculty. She was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Honor Society) in 2002 and Sigma Beta Delta (International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration) in 2009. Her awards include The Frank Smith Wilkinson Award used for international travel and study in 1994, Exemplary Teacher Award from the Division of Higher Education of the United Methodist Church and North Carolina Wesleyan College in 2002, and the Planters Bank Professorship in Business for 2013-2014.
Outside of the college Mrs. Wilson is particularly drawn to service with nonprofit organizations and has done a range of volunteer work from teaching adults how to read to sewing costumes for community theater, and she has served on nonprofit boards of directors since 2004. She loves learning about other countries and their cultures, has traveled in over 20 countries and lived for a time in The Netherlands and Japan. She and her husband are historic preservationists, have restored two historic homes including one on the National Register of Historic Places, and received the Gertrude S. Carraway Award in 2011 from Preservation North Carolina for commitment to promoting historic preservation.
