James A. Gray III
Mr. Gray came to Wesleyan in June 2009 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served at the Kenan Flagler Business School as the Associate Dean for External Affairs (fundraising and communications). At UNC he proved himself to be an effective fundraiser. Mr. Gray led the Carolina First campaign for the Kenan-Flagler Business School (2005-2007) which raised $202 million against a goal of $180 million.
Prior to working at UNC-Chapel Hill, Mr. Gray worked for Duke University’s Faqua School of Business, where he served as Associate Dean for Marketing and Communications from 1999 until 2005. While at Duke, Mr. Gray served as a guest lecturer on marketing strategy and academic branding for both AACSB and CASE. He was also the lead public relations specialist working on the launch of Duke Corporate Education, Inc.
Mr. Gray earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he majored in English Literature on the Dean’s List and was a Morehead-Cain Scholar.
President and Mrs. Gray reside on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College.
