Telephone Services for Our Residential Students
The college does not supply telephones, and is not liable for any phone that doesn't work on the campus system. Students need to bring and use their own telephones.
VOICEMAIL
First time, to set up voice mail:
1. Call extension 7799 from your phone.
2. When the system answers, enter the pound sign (#), and you will be asked for
your voice mailbox number.
3. Enter your 4 digit phone number.
4. The system will ask for your security code.
5. Enter the default security code' 0000 (four zeros)
6. Follow the instructions to change your security code, your name, and to
record a greeting.
To retrieve messages:
1. Call extension 4999
2. When the system answers, enter the pound sign (#)
3. Enter your four-digit extension
4. Enter the your security code
To retrieve messages from off campus:
1. Dial 984-4999, or (252) 984-4999 if out of area code.
2. Enter pound (#)
3. Enter your four-digit extension
4. Enter your security code
LONG DISTANCE CALLING
Students are free to use any long distance calling card they choose.
Students are not to buy services using your college number as point of contact. You will be charged.
To make a long distance call from one of the halls:
1. Dial 9 to "get out".
2. Dial the 1-800 access code on your calling card.
3. Follow the procedures or instructions for completing a call. The process will
vary depending on the company that sold you the card. All long distance calls
require a calling card.
OTHER INFO
Dialing 0 from any campus phone will call the campus operator, who is on duty from 8-5, Monday through Friday. It is not possible to dial "0" for an outside operator from any campus telephone.
Students are not permitted to accept collect calls at the expense of the college. Any charge of this sort will be passed directly to the student.
