Freshman Advantage

A selective program designed to promote success and improve academic
performance during the first year of college.

Requirements of the program include: 

Students enrolled in Freshman Advantage are introduced to the available academic resources on campus and monitored closely by the FA Coordinator to ensure they utilize them regularly. With hard work and dedication, Freshman Advantage students can build a strong academic foundation for the rest of their college careers. There is no limit to what they can achieve as they take advantage of every opportunity for success.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Scott spent most of his life in the Rocky Mount area. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in English from North Carolina State University, he traveled to East Carolina University to complete a Master of Arts Degree in English. In 2000, Scott accepted a position at North Carolina Wesleyan College as an Adjunct English Instructor and Professional Tutor in the College’s Writing Lab. Working closely with freshmen in their English Composition classes provided him with a strong belief in student advocacy and a sincere desire to help students achieve academic success. In 2003, Scott accepted the position of Pre-Major Advisor and coordinated the WesBridge conditional-acceptance program. This eventually led to his current appointment as Freshman Advantage Coordinator, another selective program for incoming freshmen.
