Southern Bank Foundation Gives
$25,000 For Library Expansion

Mount, N.C.— North Carolina Wesleyan
College is pleased to announce that the
Southern Bank Foundation has made a gift of
$25,000 to the College to support a
12,000-foot addition to The Elizabeth
Braswell Pearsall Library. Groundbreaking
for the expansion project is expected to
take place in late May. The renovated
library will add space for academic and
technological improvements, including a
High-Tech Instructional Lab, a Media and
Special Collections Area, an Internet Café,
and many other improvements.
“Wesleyan is very grateful to Southern Bank
for this generous gift that will support our
library addition,” said Malcolm Woodall,
Wesleyan’s vice president of development.
“This gift shows Southern Bank’s dedication
to higher education and to the betterment of
our community and region. We sincerely
appreciate Southern Bank’s interest in
helping Wesleyan improve its learning
environment by making this gift for our
library project.”

The Southern Bank Foundation makes
charitable gifts to support a large number
and variety of charitable programs in areas
of North Carolina served by Southern Bank
and Trust Company. Southern Bank was founded
in 1901 as a customer-focused community bank
serving Eastern North Carolina. It is a
wholly owned subsidiary of Southern
BancShares (N.C.), Inc., with corporate
headquarters in Mount Olive, N.C. The bank
has over 50 locations serving Eastern North
Carolina.
