Twin Run/Walk In Greenville And Iraq
Will Aid Scholarship For Fallen Hero

Twin 5K and 10-mile runs—one in Greenville, N.C., on Sunday, December 2, and one in Iraq—will benefit a college scholarship at North Carolina Wesleyan College in memory of Captain Christopher Cash. The Wesleyan graduate made the ultimate sacrifice near Baqouba, Iraq, in June 2004 while serving in the North Carolina Army National Guard. (See bottom of story for more about Captain Cash.)

Dawn Cash, widow of Captain Christopher Cash, posed with Joshua Cain, who received the Christopher S. Cash Memorial Scholarship at Wesleyan this year. Cain is enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve.

U.S. troops in Iraq will run a “sister” race on December 2 at a fitness center area that has been named for Captain Cash. The troops in Iraq will not pay an entry fee, and expenses for their race, including t-shirts, trophies, medals, and entertainment will come from profits from the Greenville event.

Sponsors are still being sought for the race. Anyone interested may contact Dawn Cash at
252-531-4241 or dashforcash@suddenlink.net

Participants in the Third Annual Reindeer Dash for Cash may sign up in advance or as late as race day. To register online, go to ReindeerDashForCash.org.

Letter from Dawn Cash
Widow of Capt. Christopher Cash

The Reindeer Dash for Cash is a fund-raiser for the Capt. Christopher S. Cash Memorial Scholarship located at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC. Chris earned his first undergraduate degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College in 1994. He later earned a second undergraduate and a master’s degree from East Carolina University in 1997 and 2002 respectively. On June 24, 2004 Chris made the ultimate sacrifice while proudly serving his country in Iraq.

Chris had many wonderful traits. His vibrant smile and contagious laugh are just two of many. He had a drive to help others and he loved serving his country. In his spare time he ran with Team In Training helping to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma cancer research.

This is what the Reindeer Dash for Cash is all about…helping others and giving back. I can not adequately put into words what it means to me to be able to help others. Chris dedicated his entire life to helping others, so to be able to continue helping others in his memory is very important to me. None of this would be possible without your contributions, love and support.

Thank you so much for making this possible!

Sincerely,
Dawn Cash
