Former Fisk University President To Be Keynote Speaker

February 24 During Black History Month At N.C. Wesleyan College

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Dr. Robert Satcher, former president of Fisk University and Saint Paul’s College, and a noted chemist, will speak on Thursday, February 24, at 7 p.m. at North Carolina Wesleyan College as keynote speaker during Wesleyan’s Black History Month events. He will speak in Powers Recital Hall in the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

During the 1960s, Satcher played a major role in planning student and NAACP actions. He is the brother of the former surgeon general of the United States, Dr. David Satcher, and the father of Dr. Robert L. Satcher, a NASA astronaut and member of the medical staff at Northwestern University.

The event is sponsored by Wesleyan’s chapter of Phi Beta Sigma, one of the nation’s five historically black Greek-lettered fraternities dedicated to upholding brotherhood, scholarship, and service.
