Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Increases Scholarship Grants

To North Carolina Wesleyan College

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Trustees of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation have announced an increase in their support for general scholarships to North Carolina Wesleyan College for the 2005-2006 academic year. The new grant award will be $82,000, an increase of nearly 10 percent over last year.

"This is a very generous increase in support from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation," said Gary Sherman, vice president of enrollment management at Wesleyan. "It will allow the College to provide significant scholarship funding for qualified applicants. The Lettie Pate Whitehead award makes the difference between whether or not our students receive the financial aid they need in order to seek a quality college education."

The foundation, with headquarters in Atlanta, provides scholarship awards to schools and colleges to be used for financial support of women in nine southeastern states. The foundation has supported generous scholarships at Wesleyan for more than 20 years.
