Ella Scarborough To Speak At North Carolina Wesleyan College

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Ella Scarborough, a great-niece of noted educator Dr. Mary McLeod-Bethune, will speak at North Carolina Wesleyan College on February 16 at 7 p.m. in the Powers Recital Hall of the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts. Her talk is free and open to the public as part of the College’s Black History month activities.

Scarborough has served on the Charlotte city council and narrowly lost the race for mayor of Charlotte in 1999. In 2000 she launched a bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor and, although unsuccessful, nonetheless played a major role in the 2000 campaign.
