Rusty Dail Inducted Into North Carolina Wesleyan College Athletic Hall of Fame

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Rusty Dail, a 1989 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College, was inducted into Wesleyan’s Athletic Hall of Fame on October 9, during the College’s homecoming weekend festivities.

At Wesleyan, Dail was a first team selection to the NCAA Division III All-Dixie Conference (now USA South) in 1989, when Wesleyan’s Battling Bishops won their first baseball National Championship. An outfielder, Dail is one of the greatest batters in the school’s history. His 220 single season at bats ranks him first all-time at Wesleyan and number five in the country. His single season marks for runs scored and hits—66 and 84 respectively—are number five and number two in Wesleyan history. Career statistics in runs scored (206/#2 at Wesleyan), hits (251/#1 at Wesleyan), and triples (15/#1 at Wesleyan), rank him among the top 14 nationally, in each category. He is also the fourth leading player in career stolen bases at Wesleyan.

Dail resides in Bailey, N.C., with his wife, Tina, daughter, Taylor, and son, Trey. He currently coaches an American Legion baseball team and is employed with a pest control company in Wilson, N.C.
