North Carolina Wesleyan College To Dedicate

New Recreation Center And Field House On October 8

Rocky Mount, N.C.—North Carolina Wesleyan College will dedicate its new recreation center and field house in a ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 8, at the start of Homecoming Weekend. The recreation center and several areas within it will be named for individuals during the ceremony.

Groundbreaking for the new athletic facilities took place on October 17 of 2003. Both facilities were completed for the opening of Wesleyan’s fall semester, and both are in full use, with classes and athletic activities being held in the recreation center and the field house serving the needs of outdoor sports.

The recreation center expands the College’s Everett Gymnasium on the north side by an additional 11,650 square feet. It includes a fitness center, basketball court, classroom space, offices, meeting facilities, and an athletic hall of fame area.

The field house includes approximately 11,000 square feet of space that is used for coaches’ offices, a weight room, training room, and locker facilities for outdoor sports.
