March 17, 2003 North Carolina Wesleyan College Welcomes New Vice President of Development Dr. Philip T. Ellmore, a fundraiser, teacher, and administrator, joined North Carolina Wesleyan College as vice president of development on March 17. At Wesleyan, Ellmore will oversee the colleges fundraising efforts and play a key role in its future growth. Ellmore came to Wesleyan from Pennsylvania, where he served as the chief development officer at Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, in the Philadelphia area, and was president of the Eastern Seminary Foundation. During his four years of leadership in development at Eastern, the institution saw a significant increase in annual giving, secured a major gift for an endowed professorship, and received national grant awards. Also he has been a member of the adjunct faculty at Eastern University and Eastern Seminary, where he taught courses in organizational management. Before joining Eastern, Ellmore held positions at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, Lafayette College, Presbyterian Homes, Kutztown University, and as pastor of two congregations. He also worked as a senior associate with Farr Healey Consulting, specializing in capital campaign consulting for churches. Wesleyan president Dr. Ian Newbould said, "I am delighted that we have been able to attract a person of Dr. Ellmores caliber. This speaks highly of the mark that Wesleyan College is making in American higher education. His qualifications and experience will serve us and the community well." Ellmore holds a B.A. in Christian studies from Alderson-Broaddus College, a master of divinity degree with emphasis in pastoral counseling from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in leadership studies and organizational behavior from The Union Institute and University. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive and an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which regularly invites him to teach at regional and international conferences. Ellmore said, "I am looking forward to the opportunity of serving North Carolina Wesleyan College as vice president of development. The college is in a unique position to positively build on its past to shape an exciting future. It is great to join Dr. Newbould, faculty, and administration at this point in the institutions history." Ellmores position of vice president of development has been expanded from 10 months to full-time, in keeping with Wesleyans efforts to enhance its fundraising potential and strengthen the college. Ellmore will be joined in Rocky Mount by his wife, Trudy. They have two college-age children: a son and a daughter. # # # |
