Airman Awarded College Degree After His Death

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Jeffrey Frank Rigdon, a former Goldsboro resident who died while on active duty with the U.S. Air Force in Texas, was posthumously awarded his bachelor of science degree in business administration, with honors, from North Carolina Wesleyan College at its winter commencement on December 14.

"Jeff Rigdon was a conscientious student who was nearing graduation in the Adult Degree Program in Goldsboro," said Associate Dean Paul deGategno, who presented Rigdon’s degree to his sister. "We want to make note today of his accomplishment and his dedication to his family, his profession, and this College. We honor students of his caliber and extend our sympathies to his family. Though we remember the loss of Jeff with sadness, we celebrate his achievements as an example to all who pursue their studies with diligence and perseverance."

Rigdon’s wife and young son reside in Goldsboro. He was originally from Macon, Georgia.
