Exemplary Teacher Award Presented To

North Carolina Wesleyan College Professor

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Dr. Amy Karnehm Willis, assistant professor of sociology at North Carolina Wesleyan College, recently received the Exemplary Teacher Award for 2003. The honor is presented by the college and The United Methodist Church through its Division of Higher Education.

The award recognizes a teacher who promotes student learning, shows concern for students and colleagues, demonstrates a commitment to value-centered education, and serves students and the community.

Karnehm Willis has served on many campus committees, including the Multicultural Awareness Advisory Committee, and is actively involved in the community as an officer in the Rocky Mount Business and Professional Women’s Association and the Association for Learning Disabled and Handicapped. As a result of her service, she also has received the Campus Leadership Award for Diversity Education.

Karnehm Willis earned her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and has taught at Wesleyan since 2000.
