North Carolina Wesleyan College Presents Sullivan Award

Rocky Mount, N.C.— William H. Kincheloe, a local businessman and trustee of North Carolina Wesleyan College, recently received the college’s Algernon Sydney Sullivan award at Wesleyan’s Founders’ Day celebration. The honor is the highest recognition that the college presents to a member of the community.

Kincheloe joined Wesleyan’s board of trustees 20 years ago and has served on the college’s development, education, and finance committees. He successfully chaired Wesleyan’s Quality of Life Campaign in 1999.

The Sullivan Award recognizes Kincheloe not only for his dedication to Wesleyan but for his outstanding leadership in the community, which includes service on numerous boards such as the Rocky Mount Family YMCA, Salvation Army, N.C. Railroad Committee, N.C. Ports Authority, and the Rocky Mount Community Foundation.

In presenting the award, Thomas A. Betts, Jr., chairman of Wesleyan’s board of trustees, said of Kincheloe, "He has been a large part of Rocky Mount for a long time. His quiet and reassuring manner makes him easy to be with. He is true to his convictions and has a strong and sincere sense of duty. He is very much a part of the foundation of North Carolina Wesleyan College and a pillar of the community."

Kincheloe is president of Wildwood Lamp Company, which employs over 100 people locally and distributes products throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.
