December 4, 2002 North Carolina Wesleyan College Commencement Set For December 14 Rocky Mount, N.C.North Carolina Wesleyan College will grant diplomas to 277 candidates for graduation at its December 14 commencement ceremonies at 1:30 p.m. in Minges Auditorium of the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts. Ninety-five of the commencement participants completed their degree requirements last August, and 182 will be finishing in December. Last year, 268 students graduated in December. Wesleyans spring commencement will be held May 10. This years keynote speaker will be Dr. A. Hope Williams, president of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, an organization comprised of the 36 independent, or private, colleges and universities in the state. The NCICU provides research and information to and about the states independent colleges and universities, and administers collaborative programs. Williams works closely with the State of North Carolina and the federal government, including the executive branches, and with the N.C. General Assembly and the U.S. Congress. She serves on the states Education Cabinet and works with the state university system, community colleges, the State Board of Education, and the Department of Public Instruction to address issues affecting education in North Carolina. The commencement ceremony will be preceded by a baccalaureate service at 10:30 a.m. in Wesleyans Leon Russell Chapel. Because of limited seating, tickets are reserved for graduates and their guests. # # # |
