N.C. Wesleyan Music Instructor Receives Fulbright Fellowship

Rocky Mount, N.C.—Michele Clark, an adjunct music history instructor at North Carolina Wesleyan College’s instructional branches in Raleigh/Research Triangle Park, has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship. Clark will study in Vienna, Austria, for the 2002-2003 academic year.

Clark is a Ph.D. candidate in the musicology program at the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill. She earned her bachelor of music education from Houghton College and masters degrees in flute performance and musicology from UNC—Chapel Hill. She taught elementary music in the Nash-Rocky Mount school system from 1992-1996.

The Fulbright Program is considered the flagship of international exchange programs. It is a national, merit-based competition that seeks to further the academic pursuits of its recipients and foster mutual understanding between the United States and other nations.

North Carolina Wesleyan College is an independent, four-year liberal arts college for men and women, founded in 1956 and affiliated with The United Methodist Church. The College offers bachelor’s degrees in 21 majors. An Adult Degree Program that helps adults finish their bachelor’s degrees in several disciplines is available at the Rocky Mount campus and at instructional branches in Raleigh, Research Triangle Park, and Goldsboro.
