New York Artist Exhibits Paintings at Mims Gallery

Rocky Mount, N.C.—"Duel of the Fates," an exhibition of recent paintings by Vicky Perry, will open with a free gallery talk and public reception in North Carolina Wesleyan College’s Mims Gallery at 7 p.m. Friday, March 22.

Vicky Perry comes to the Mims Gallery from New York. Her postmodernist style of painting contrasts a pictorial realism against the abstraction produced in action painting "accidents," when splashes of paint and spills produce interesting textures, rhythms, and color. The contrasting visuals of Perry’s works inspire viewers to seek connections and ask questions.

Perry has a master’s degree in computer science from New York University. She has a rich undergraduate education ranging from art and philosophy to computer science. Since 1983, she has exhibited her artwork worldwide, most recently in Australia. Many of her works have been purchased for private collections. She is a member of the national Association of Women Artists.

The Mims Gallery is open free of charge to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Club and school tours are welcome. For additional information, phone (252) 985-5268.
