N.C. Wesleyan College To Hold December 8 Commencement

Rocky Mount, N.C.—North Carolina Wesleyan College will hold December commencement exercises on Saturday, December 8, in the Minges Auditorium of the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts. Of the total of 268 students eligible to participate, 192 are December graduates and 76 are students who completed their degree requirements last August.

Commencement activities will begin with a baccalaureate service at 10:30 a.m. in the Leon Russell Chapel. The speaker will be Dr. Fred A. Grissom, professor of religious studies at North Carolina Wesleyan. Grissom earned his master of theology degree from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After serving fifteen years as professor of church history at two seminaries, he is in his seventh year at Wesleyan.

Commencement exercises will begin at 2 p.m. in Minges Auditorium. The speaker will be Judith Robb Bullock, special deputy attorney general in the North Carolina Department of Justice. Bullock is assigned to the waste management section of the Environmental Division, for which she conducts complex environmental litigation. She also has taught at N. C. Wesleyan as an adjunct professor in the business and justice studies programs since 1985.

Because seating in Minges Auditorium is limited, admission to the commencement will require a ticket, with no charge to participants. Tickets may be requested from Carletta Dudley, (252) 985-5138. No tickets are required for the baccalaureate service.

N.C. Wesleyan is an independent, four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The College offers bachelor’s degrees in 22 majors on the main campus in Rocky Mount. It also offers an Adult Degree Program specially designed to help working adults finish their bachelor’s degrees in several disciplines on the Rocky Mount campus and at sites in Raleigh, Durham, and Goldsboro.
