N.C. Wesleyan Graduate Appointed As Wesleyan Trustee Rocky Mount, N.C.N.C. Wesleyan Colleges board of trustees has appointed Wesleyan graduate Dewey Glenn Clark, of Wilson, as a new board member, Thomas A. Betts, Jr., chairman of the board, announced. Since 1993, Clark has served as senior operations/financial analyst with MBM Corporation, the largest privately held food distributor in the United States. He served as personnel coordinator from 1990 to 1993. The company employs more than 4,000 people in 31 distribution centers across the country and serves 21 national food chains, including Hardees, Golden Corral, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and Chickfila. Founded in 1947 by J. R. Wordsworth and purchased by his sons and daughter in 1976, MBM is headquartered in Rocky Mount. Steve Wordsworth and twelve other members of the corporation also are N.C. Wesleyan alumni. Clark graduated from N.C. Wesleyan in 1982 with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and history. Because of his outstanding leadership at Wesleyan, he was listed in Whos Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Clark furthered his education at Campbell University, where he received a masters degree in business administration in 1992. Clarks leadership at Wesleyan continued when he joined the admissions office staff and served from 1983 to 1990, working his way up to the position of associate dean of admissions. In the admissions office, Clark was involved in a variety of activities, from administrative duties to student recruitment and marketing to admitting students. He served as foreign student adviser for Wesleyans international students and represented administrative and student concerns on campus. Wesleyan board of trustees chairman Betts said of Clarks appointment, "Dewey Clark knows N.C. Wesleyan College and its needs from the unusual perspective of someone who has been both a student and an employee. His familiarity with the College and his leadership both at Wesleyan and in the business community make him a valued trustee of his alma mater." Clark is active in the community and has been recognized with the Jaycee Merit Award. He and his wife, Suzanne, have two children, Blakely and Nicholas. N.C. Wesleyan College is an independent, four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. In addition to its main campus in Rocky Mount, the college offers an adult degree program at sites in Raleigh, Durham, and Goldsboro. # # # |
