N.C. Wesleyan Graduate Joins the College’s Board of Trustees

Rocky Mount, N.C.— Patrick Kevin Kilroy, who graduated from N.C. Wesleyan College in the late 1970’s with a major in political studies, has reaffirmed his commitment and loyalty to the College by accepting an appointment to Wesleyan’s board of trustees, board chairman Thomas A. Betts, Jr., announced.

At Wesleyan, Kilroy was a full-time honor student, despite his need to work his way through college. He also played varsity soccer. Upon graduation, he began a career in the computer software industry that led to executive positions with several international companies, including The Xerox Corporation, Toshiba America Information Systems, and Samsung Electronics America.

In 1993, Kilroy established a technology start-up, ManTech Systems and ManTech Solutions Corporation, where he served as president and chief executive officer. The company made and sold software products, professional and technical services, and hardware products. Two years later, the business was acquired by a publicly traded technology company.

Kilroy then served as senior vice president of worldwide distribution channels for Seer Technologies, a publicly traded software company based in Cary, N.C.

In 1998, Kilroy joined Bluestone Software, Inc., where he became chief executive officer and chairman of the publicly traded software company based in Philadelphia. He steered the company through periods of extensive growth in products, services, and revenues, and led Bluestone through a series of private and public financings and a listing on the NASDAQ exchange (NASDAQ: BLSW). Under his guidance, the company became recognized as a worldwide leader in the niche of pure Java and XML-based enterprise solutions.

In October of 2000, Kilroy successfully negotiated the acquisition of Bluestone Software to the Hewlett-Packard Corporation in a strategic merger.

N.C. Wesleyan board chairman Betts said of Kilroy’s appointment as a trustee, "I am especially pleased that a Wesleyan graduate who has achieved so much in the world of technology is willing to come back to help support and serve the College. His commitment to his alma mater sets a wonderful example. I believe that the board will benefit greatly from his input and unique insight into Wesleyan’s needs."

Kilroy, his wife, and daughter make their home in Florida.
