Staley Lecture April 10 at NC Wesleyan

Rocky Mount, NC—The Staley lecturers for this year at North Carolina Wesleyan College will be Priscilla Pope-Levison and John Levison. Dr. Priscilla Pope-Levison is assistant professor of the Practice of Evangelism, and her husband Dr. John Levison is associate professor of the Practice of Biblical Interpretation at the Duke Divinity School. They will give a lecture/slide presentation entitled From Rocky Mount to Rwanda: Jesus in Global Context, Monday, April 10, at 7.30 p.m., in the Leon Russell Chapel. Dr. Pope-Levison will also be preaching at the noon chapel service the same day. These events are free and the public is welcome to attend.

John Levison’s research and teaching seeks to recognize the religious vitality of early Judaism, as well as acknowledging the insights of contextual biblical interpretation in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. His works include The Spirit in First Century Judaism. Priscilla Pope-Levison’s work focuses on bringing diverse voices into conversation with evangelism. Her highly acclaimed book, Evangelization from a Liberation Perspective, was published in 1991. Together they have published Jesus in Global Contexts and Return to Babel: Global Perspectives on the Bible.
