Royal Shakespearean Actor to Speak at North Carolina Wesleyan

Rocky Mount, NC -- Jack Lynn, distinguished theatrical director who has had a professional stage career on two continents, will speak at North Carolina Wesleyan College at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, at the Dunn Center. Lynn, who appeared in the film "Yentl" with Barbara Streisand and with Glenda Jackson in "The Incredible Sarah," and in dozens of other American and British motion pic tures, will discuss his extensive work in theatre as a producer, director, teacher, and actor.
Mr. Lynn has directed and produced stage and television productions that have headlined well known figures such as Sir John Gielgud, Deborah Kerr, Trevor Howard, Jeremy Irons, Diana Rigg, Dustin Hoffman, and British Dame Judi Dench. He appeared with Ch arlton Heston in "A Man for all Seasons" at the Savoy Theatre in London. Lynn has also acted extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford upon Avon in Great Britian.
The director was educated at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he later taught aspiring actors and actresses. In addition, he has taught at the Pasadena Playhouse in California where he served as Associate Director of the Shakespeare program, an d later became Dean of the College.
He has directed over fifty productions at the Pasadena Playhouse, and at least seventy plays at Knightsbridge Theatre in London. He has also served as Artistic Director for the Chesterfield Civic Theatre, the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry (UK), and has acted in plays at the Sacramento Theatre Company.
