Godspell Performance to Benefit Local Food Kitchens

Rocky Mount, NC -- The public is invited to attend the Saturday, October 24, 8:00 p.m. performance of "Godspell" simply by donating two canned food items per person at the door of the Dunn Center for the Performing at North Carolina Wesle yan College. The first two hundred patrons who bring the food donations will receive complimentary tickets to that evenings performance. The canned goods are being collected for Make a Difference Day, and will be distributed to local food kitchens.
The musical "Godspell" first appeared at the Cherry Lane Theatre in May 1971. It ran for over 2,000 performances and then enjoyed almost 600 performances on Broadway. "Godspell" provides a contemporary view of Christianity through the words of Jesus as recorded in the Sermon on the Mount in the Book of Matthew. One of the most memorable songs from the production is "Day-by-Day."
The musical opens in the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, continuing Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. Sunday matinees will be performed at 2:00 P.M. on October 25 and November 1. Additional performan ces are at 8:00 p.m. on October 29-31. For tickets, call the Belk Box Office at 252/985-5197.
