A theatre major trains and prepares actors and actresses for
diverse performing situations. The degree is broad based, exposing the student not only to
the elements of acting, but to the practical aspects of production and the theoretical
skills of analysis. COURSE WORK:The theatre curriculum begins with studying contemporary acting, familiarizing the student with theatre crafts, proceeding to the techniques of classical acting, and learning the intricacies of theatrical make-up, concluding with an intensive final project representing the culmination of one's work in the major. OPPORTUNITIES:Students may gain experience in acting in two or three plays during the year that run for six shows at the College's new Dunn Performing Arts Center. They may also be involved with the Rocky Mount Community Playhouse Theatre in Rocky Mount. |
