North Carolina Wesleyan College offers four degree completion programs designed for working adults: BS in Business Administration, BS in Accounting, BS in Computer Information Systems and BA in Justice Studies. NCWC has offered classes in the Triangle for nearly 20 years.

The classroom locations are Perimeter Park in Morrisville.

Class Schedule Formats: Classes are offered in formats and at times that meet the needs of many working adults. For information on specific dates of upcoming sessions, please see the schedule index.

  • 12 week session: Classes in the 12 week session meet once a week for three hours from 6 to 9 p.m. Each three semester hour class meets for 36 instructor contact hours. For each hour spent in class, students should expect to spend 2-3 hours outside of class reading, completing assignments, etc. Textbooks should be purchased after you register through MBS.
  • Weekend session: Classes in this format meet for three alternating weekends: Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Each three semester hour class meets for 36 instructor contact hours. For each hour spent in class, students should expect to spend 2-3 hours outside of class reading, completing assignments, etc.
  • 5 & 8 Week session: Other classes are offered on an accelerated format  which has 5 and 8 week sessions; extensive out-of-class time is required. No more than two classes may be taken in a session. Accelerated classes meet for four hours one weekday evening or one Saturday morning each week of a 5 or 8 week session.  In accelerated, classes are offered in a facilitated learning environment. The format is based on the facilitation of knowledge involving students in participatory activities, group discussions, written exercises, projects, and presentations. Extensive pre-class readings and/or assignments are required. Students must expect to spend an average of 15-20 out-of-class hours each week per three semester hour course. Classes meet once a week for 5 or 8 weeks. The BS degree in Business Administration is offered in this format. Students with other majors may take accelerated courses that are required for their degrees. Course modules (expanded course syllabus) must be picked up at the time of registration.

Financial Aid Information: You may be eligible for financial aid. Options include student loans, Pell Grants and the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant. If you are interested in a student loan or the Pell Grant, your first step is to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Try the electronic versions; copies are also available in NCWC offices. Our FAFSA Title Code is 002951. Be sure to contact our Financial Aid Office at 1-800-488-6292 or 252-985-5290.

Students who are legal North Carolina residents can apply for the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant (NCLTG). The grant is available in the Fall and Spring semesters only. You must enroll and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours in each semester. To be eligible, you must show intent to enroll in a minimum of 12 semester hours. Applications for the NCLTG are available in NCWC offices. If the NCLTG is the only grant or loan for which you plan to apply, a FAFSA is not required.

For any loan or grant including the NCLTG, an annual application must be filed. For more information, you are encouraged to call the Financial Aid Office (numbers listed above) or Wendy Gasparini at 919-465-4779.

Registration: Registration for a specific session ends approximately one week before the session begins. At the beginning of each registration period, priority is given to seniors (students with 90 or more transcripted hours). Registration dates for each session are listed in the schedule.

  • Registration in an NCWC Office: You can complete the registration process at an NCWC office. It is recommended that you purchase the text(s) at that time, and if taking a course on the accelerated or weekend format, retrieve you 5 & 8 week module or the course syllabus for the weekend course on Campus Cruiser.
  • Registration by Mail: You may mail a registration form with payment to the appropriate NCWC office. If paying by credit card, write the name of the card holder, card number and expiration date on a separate piece of paper and attach it to the registration form.
  • Registration by Fax: You may fax your registration to the appropriate NCWC office. If using a credit card for payment, it is recommended that this information is provided on a cover note rather than written directly on the registration form.

  2. Complete the registration form available from NCWC offices. Be sure to sign and date the form.
  3. Determine payment required at registration. The tuition rate is different for accelerated and for the 12 week and weekend formats. The per credit hour rate is listed for each session. Please note payment options.

If paying by credit card, MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express are accepted. Cash is not accepted at off-campus offices of NCWC. Faxed registrations must be paid by credit card. (It is suggested that you send faxes with credit card information during business hours only.)
  5. Incomplete forms or those received without appropriate payment after the pre-registration deadline for the session (see course schedules) will be mailed, unprocessed, back to you.

  6. NCWC staff will process your registration form.

    • 12 week format: provided by instructor at the first class meeting.

Registration and Orientation for New Students:

Students registering for their first NCWC class are required to schedule a registration and orientation appointment.

In Triangle, contact Admission Counselors @ (919) 465-4777.

Textbook Information: Textbooks are available through the MBS Direct Virtual Bookstore

Students registered for accelerated or weekend courses are reminded that textbooks need to be purchased early enough that pre-course assignments can be completed.

Academic Advisors: Your advisor will assist you with course transfer, course selection, exploration of CLEP and DANTES examinations, and addressing other academic concerns that you may have about the program. It is important that you discuss all of your credit options with your advisor early in your program.

In Triangle, three staff members work with students at various stages of their degrees. John Dismukes or Sunny Xiong works with prospective and new students enrolling in their first class. Raziya Fatteh or Jane Fruitt works with students after their initial enrollment and throughout their academic career at NCWC.

CLEP and DANTES: Qualified students may earn credit through CLEP and DANTES testing. NCWC-Triangle offers tests to admitted students several times a year. Students must order specific test(s) several weeks in advance of the testing date. Lists of tests and associated costs are available in the NCWC offices. For assistance in selecting CLEP and DANTES subject areas, contact your academic advisor. Students should set up an appointment with their academic advisor to learn more about this option for "testing out." For schedule information click here.

Academic Policies:

Prerequisites: When selecting a course, be sure that you meet the course prerequisites. For example, MAT 092 or the math placement test must be passed before you can enroll in MAT 208. Your catalog includes prerequisite information. Prerequisites are included in this schedule. As a student, it is your responsibility to complete all prerequisites for courses you are registering for at NCWC.

Course Descriptions: The NCWC catalog includes course descriptions. If you have questions about how a course can be applied to your degree requirements, contact your academic advisor.

NCWC Transcripts: The Registrar will provide official and student copies of transcripts at a cost of $5.00 per transcript. Arrangements can be made for priority or fax transcripts for a fee of $10.00. Order forms are available in NCWC offices.

Academic Policies: Students should refer to the NCWC catalog for other academic policies including grading, grade appeals, and graduation requirements. You may also wish to contact your academic advisor.

Class Attendance: You are expected to attend every class meeting. The accelerated nature of 5 & 8 Week courses means a large percentage of a course is missed for each absence. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor or facilitator when faced with unavoidable circumstances. Each instructor and facilitator has the authority to require make-up work and set grading policies such as lowering the grade for absences. He/she may also administratively withdraw a student who misses more than 20% of the course.

Accelerated Classes: No more than two accelerated classes may be taken in any session.

"Drop" Policy: A course may be dropped anytime before (1) 5 and 8 week: the first class meeting, (2) 12 week format: third class meeting, or (3) weekend format: first class meeting. Paid tuition will be refunded. ERP deposit will not be refunded.

"Withdrawal" Policy: The last day to withdraw from a course with a grade of "w" will be the midpoint meeting date of that course. For formats used at the Triangle Campus, the last day to withdraw with a grade of "w" is before the third meeting on the 5 week format, before the fourth meeting on the 8 week format, before the sixth meeting on the 12 week format, and before the second weekend class meeting on the 3 weekend format. Students who withdraw after the official last day to drop or withdraw will receive an automatic grade of "F" for their classes. You must notify the site director or other NCWC staff member if you drop a course or withdraw from the college. No tuition will be refunded. ERP tuition balance is payable by the stated due date

"Add" Policy: You may add a course if you have already registered for a course for that session. For accelerated courses (5 and 8 week) and weekend courses, the add must be made one week before the first class meeting. For 12 week courses, the add must be made before the second class meeting.

Incomplete Grades: Grades of Incomplete (INC) may be given at the faculty member’s discretion within NCWC guidelines. An INC grade may become any grade when work is completed. It must be removed within eight weeks following the end of the term. If the INC is not removed in the required time, a grade of "F" will be recorded. For additional information, see the NCWC catalog.

Grades: Final grades for each session are mailed to the student from the Registrar at NCWC. Official grades are furnished only by the Registrar’s office and cannot be released over the phone, by fax, e-mailed to the student, or in-person at off-campus sites. Upon request, an unofficial grade may be released by the instructor following the end of the session. In the event that you have lost/misplaced your current grade slip, your advisor can make you a photocopy when you meet with her.
