General Information

This is the third year Wesleyan has hosted a 5K race and the second year that the race will be done to honor a fallen soldier and Wesleyan alumnus. Proceeds from the race benefit the Christopher Cash Memorial Scholarship Fund at North Carolina Wesleyan College. Christopher Cash, a 1993 graduate of Wesleyan, and a member of the North Carolina National Guard, was killed in action in Iraq in June 2004. The scholarship will enable young men and women like Chris Cash to obtain the critical benefits of a college education.

The course is 5000 meters around the Wesleyan Campus and through Ford’s Colony neighborhood with all asphalt running surfaces. The course is measured and certified and runners will be running with ChampionChip timing giving them accurate and quick results. The top three men and women overall get awards. The top two men and women from each age division receive awards and all participants will receive a t-shirt. Men’s and women’s age divisions are as follows: 14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.

Registration

On-site registration begins at 7:00 a.m., on October 7, 2006 at Everett Gymnasium on the Wesleyan College campus.

Advance registration may be by clicking here or by completing the form below which must be mailed with payment to the College by Tuesday, October 3, 2006.

Entrance Fees

Adults: $25.00

Day of Race: $30.00

Students: $10.00

Day of Race: $15.00

All entrants are encouraged to raise entrance fees and additional pledges from faculty, friends, and others. All proceeds benefit the Christopher Cash Memorial Scholarship.

Directions to NC Wesleyan

From Hwy 64, take U.S. Highway 301 exit (sign indicates North Carolina Wesleyan College); turn onto Hwy 301 North, approximately 5 miles to campus. There is a long serpentine brick wall bordering the College property and a lighted brick entrance with the name of the College. Take a left into the main entrance and a left at the fountain. At the dead end will be Everett Gymnasium. Parking will be to your right.
